The EU has enforced updated eyewear safety standards - EN ISO 12312-1:2022+A11:2024 (sunglasses) and EN ISO 12870:2025 (spectacle frames) - for all newly declared shipments to EU markets.
The stricter requirements cover:
UV protection
Lens transmittance
Impact resistance
Frame durability
Existing inventory already on the market can be sold until the end of 2027.
